Every great performer deserves an encore. And one of the biggest events of the Leicester cultural calendar is set to return to centre stage – with help from Reach!

The new Independent Comedy Festival is coming to Leicester from 3–21 February 2027, bringing live comedy back to venues across the county.

And while the festival itself might be new, our involvement in the local comedy scene certainly isn't.

Keeping Leicester Laughing

The Independent Comedy Festival is the brainchild of local comedian Alex Hylton and comedy promoter Colin Bowles, who have joined forces to ensure Leicester's rich comedy tradition continues.

With a fresh approach that puts performers and audiences at the heart of the event, theorganisers have ambitious plans to build on the city's reputation as one of the UK's leading destinations for live comedy.

Naturally, a new festival needs a new identity. And that's where Reach comes in.

Keeping a Smile in Mind

Our creative team was tasked with developing a distinctive new identity that would capture the fun, energy and personality of live comedy, while helping the Independent Comedy Festival establish itself as an exciting new event.

The result is a bold, colourful brand designed to make a splash.

The deliberately eye-catching colour palette gives the festival a vibrant presence, helping promotional materials stand out in print, online and across Leicester.

We've also worked a little humour into the logo itself. A smile motif incorporated into the ‘i’ of the ICF logo adds a playful finishing touch, capturing the spirit of the festival in a simple, memorable detail.

Branding is No Laughing Matter

As Owain Prorok, Reach director and lead creative on the project, explains:

“We've been involved with Leicester comedy for many years, so it's fantastic to be playing a part in this new chapter. We wanted to create a brand that will really stand out, capture the energy of a live set and have a bit of fun with itself. The little smile in the logo sums that up nicely, and we can't wait to see the new identity popping up around the city.”

Behind the fun, there's a practical purpose too. The identity has been developed to work consistently across a wide range of applications, from social media and digital campaigns to printed programmes, promotional materials and event signage.

With the new brand established, we're continuing to work with the organisers on the rollout of creative collateral ahead of February's festival.

The Arts and Reach: A Great Double Act

As a proudly Leicester-based agency, we've always enjoyed supporting the arts events and organisations that make our city such a great place to live and work.

Our longstanding involvement with the previous Leicester Comedy Festival has been a particular highlight over the years, so we're thrilled to be playing a part in this exciting second act.

The Independent Comedy Festival takes place from 3–21 February 2027.
