Hurt Until it Laughs
Comedian John Ryan researched material for the show by speaking to over 100 men about their attitudes towards health promotion and health professionals. When asked why men didn’t visit their GPs many responses were given and the most common answers included: fear of the unknown; queues and attitude of receptionists; culture of men not discussing sensitive issues; embarrassment; the ‘It won’t happen to me attitude’ and preferring to speak to a relative or partner as opposed to a doctor.
