European Union - Energy Sense
Folllowing the first Kyoto meeting the UK agreed to reduce its carbon emmissions by 2020. As part of this it encouraged city authorities to take up European funds to persuade people locally to use energy more efficiently in the domestic environment. Leicester, which had already embraced green issues and had been awarded the title of Environment City, took advantage of this initiative. Under the brand name Energy Sense, Leicester became the pilot for this campaign.
Energy Sense brought together a number of suppliers of energy saving products, from loft insulation and long life, low consumption light bulbs to energy efficient boilers.
These products were available at significant discounts and in some cases they were supported by government grants. Having created the brand, we produced information and product literature and a discount card for use when purchasing the products. This package was door dropped to over half a million households throughout the city.
Once it was a proven success it was then rolled out across other cities in the East Midlands.
As a Leicester City Council approved supplier we work with them on a number of projects in addition to those associated with environmental issues.
